Photo Booth [12 Feb 2008|02:14pm]

Anyone know where a phone booth is in Pueblo? Like the ones they use to cram into during the 50's.
I need it for a photo piece.

Awaken, oh community [21 Feb 2007|02:23pm]

I've come to announce that the PCC gallery (located on the second floor of the San Juan Building) is currently featuring the artist Ann Yaeger. She does what I can only call amazing "technicolor macros" of various species of plant-life. She also does some amazing oils featuring the play of light on and through fabric and glass. Words honestly fail me in describing her awesomeness.

The Gallery is free to the public and open during weekdays from 9am-5pm. These installations are organized by the PCC art department and brought to fruition through the help of the PCC Art Club (of which I am a member, of course). It's all part of our shared attempt to make art a more pronounced part of our local culture (god knows we need it).

If any of you are PCC students and interested in attending an art club meeting the next one will be held this Friday the 23rd at 3pm in room 203 of the San Juan building (second floor).

Ren Faire [25 Jul 2006|11:43am]

[ mood | cheerful ]

I'm going to RenFaire in Larkspur the Weekend of the 5th with Siobhan and lord knows who else. Turkey legs, scantily-clad maidens, men in ruffly shirts, and lots of Puke and Snot. Who could ask for more? I have two coupons left for discount tickets (with the coupon it would be $15) so does anyone else care to join us? I will be driving and kindly ask for petrol money. Costume is a must!

Looking for volunteers [18 Jul 2006|12:18am]

I'm doing an internship right now for the Pueblo Rape Crisis Center. The first part of this internship is for me to find about 15 people who would like to possibly become volunteer victim advocates. An advocate is basically somebody who supports and guides victims of rape through the processes of going to the hospital, talking to the police, finding support groups and/or proper therapy, etc. Classes will be twice a week, lasting about 2-3 hours per class, for about 10 weeks. The classes are free, you are under no obligation to stick with the program if you feel it is not for you, and everything is free. Classes start as soon as enough people sign up. The actual volunteer work (after completing the classes) involves the volunteer signing up for any hours they have available during the month. During those hours, they carry a pager that is linked to the Rape Crisis Hotline. The volunteer can go about their lives as usual while carrying the pager, but should they be paged, must be able to respond within a given amount of time. More often than not, entire shifts will go by without any pages. I've seen this organization and the services it provides first hand and it really is a fantastic way to help people. The people in charge at the Rape Crisis Center are amazing, laid-back, and dedicated. I've been having a hard time finding people who are willing to sacrifice a few hours a week to this. Please, if anybody has even the slightest interest in volunteering, call the Pueblo Rape Crisis Center at 583-4420. If you need more information, you can get it at the same number. If you know anybody who might be interested, please tell them about this opportunity to give to the community. And feel free to repost this entry anywhere that may draw some people who would like to volunteer. Thanks. ---Hannah

New to Town! [30 Apr 2006|01:16am]

I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself to the community. My name is Treanna Dawn and I just moved to Pueblo a couple of weeks ago from Denver. I havent had much of a chance to get to know the town, for the most part I stick to Wireworks, and Angelo's (north side, since my boyfriend works there). I'm a goth chick, however I don't bite (unless offered money or at least asked very nicely, jk). I'm just looking to get to know more people than the 4 that i socialize with.

Friends... [13 Feb 2006|11:26pm]

[ mood | amused ]

This is lame:

My best friend and best man in my wedding is going to spend Valentine's Day alone. Tragic isn't it? If you or someone you know is Female and single, let me know... I have his picture (Unknown to him) to send across the seven seas of the Internet. The gentleman in question is in his mid-20s and is a teacher, at a local elementary school. He enjoys beer and is a semi-Christian fellow. If you know anyone that would be interested... Again... Let me know.

halloween plans [30 Oct 2005|07:25pm]

[ mood | cold ]

Trick-or-treating is tomorrow at 8PM. We're heading out at 8:30 at the latest, so be there or be left out unless you agree to meet up with us somewhere.

Invite list includes: Rian101, Justin, Inkchou, Justin Vandresser, Joey, Hannah, Val, Kyle, Siobhan, Kelli, Dani, Alice, Cody, Siobhan (if you're in town), and anyone else that I don't know who wants to come, really. Just give me a call and let me know so we don't leave without you. Call my cell (719-821-0537) for my address and directions. Come in costume- it's trick-or-treating, damnit!

I plan on covering all of El-Camino and down Bridle Trail by midnight, but I'm really not sure how that will work out. I kind of have a route drawn out, though, so we can get candy on the way there and back to my house. There's cider and a place to hang out and/or crash back at my place.

Halloween [28 Oct 2005|03:18pm]

Hey - just curious if anyone knows of anything going on in Pueblo on Halloween?

I still haven't made any plans because I haven't heard of anything very good to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks <3!

Ahem ahem, attempting to break through the chorus of crickets that has gathered here...

What's happening in and around town this Halloween? Besides hitting some clubs and possibly a haunted house I don't have much going on. C'mon, share your plans, tell us what you'd like to see happen! Will you be wearing a costume? Going trick-or-treating?

Talk, talk damn you!

Get to Know Fellow Jewish Teens [17 Oct 2005|02:16am]

Hi, my family and I are pretty new to southern Colorado and we're enjoying it a lot. I actually go to school in New York but its still a very big change from Austin, Texas for me to be based in Colorado! The altitude is a killer.

Anyways, my point is: I'm throwing a grand party for Jewish teenage girls this Saturday night at 8:30pm! It'll be in the sukkah, and there'll be cotton candy, pizza, an awesome arts and crafts project, this really nifty game, and more stuff. If you or your friends are Jewish, female, and a teenager (between ages 13-17 about) then please contact me for more information! Once you email me I'll give you my phone number and more info.

Hope to hear from you!

Name's Brye. Thought I'd introduce myself, anyways. Going to CSU-P, almost done . . . happy day when it's done.

If I offend anyone . . . sorry. I'm prone to do that sometimes.

Not intentionally of course.

[23 Jun 2005|01:12pm]

My name is Colleen and I have joined this community in hopes of maybe getting in contact with some of my old friends from there since I so abruptly left with out much of a goodbye.  I now currently reside in Denver but before Denver I lived in Springs.

I went to Central for most of my school but did a little bout at Centennial, long story.

This is a picture of me and if you don’t know me you can still add me if you want, my family is still down there so I do make it down every once in a great while.

I NEED FILM PEOPLE!!! [26 Apr 2005|12:41pm]

hey p-town LJers
im looking for people that have acting, camera, lighting, or production skills that would like to collaborate on a movie i am currently writing a script for. The movie will be a short film and im not taking it to any film festival or anything like that. It's just somethign to do for a couple of days...being that it's pueblo and there isnt much to do but go to Wire Works and talk about what there isnt to do. Im not looking for pro's in film because im not going to make this film more then amature with a taste of pro. But anyone is welcome to help out anyway they want.
I also dont want to just restrict this to one short film. if you like having fun with cameras and messing around (in a clean way...jesus) then you are the people im looking for! Also, if you want a rough draft copy of the script (im only to about 4 pages) let me know, and i will either post it or e-mail it.
Leave a comment if u are interested!
